Llegamos a La Spezia al mediodia y tenemos hambre pero no se ven sitios interesantes para comer. Al final, le preguntamos a un motero local durante una parada de semaforo quien nos indica de ir hacia el final del malecon pues hay "un restaurante pequeño donde se come pescado fresco". Encontramos el sitio y hay una larga fila de gente en la entrada pero luego de evaluar alternativas nos decidimos a esperar nuestro turno, lo cual vale la pena pues comemos abundantemente a precios razonables / We arrive in La Spezia at noon and are hungry but cannot see any interesting places to eat. Finally, we ask a local biker at a stop-light and he directs us to the end of the seafront boulevard where there is "a small restaurant where to eat fresh fish". We find the place and there is a long line in front of the entrance. After evaluating our options, we decide to wait our turn, which was a good choice because we eat well and at reasonable prices

Pisa esta en la ruta hacia Livorno y Aparicio quiere conocer la famosa torre, asi que hacemos un pequeño desvio y vamos hasta el centro de la ciudad. Encontramos donde estacionar pero enseguida viene un tipo claramente de origen africano y nos dice que el "nos las va a cuidar". Esto es tipico en Italia y otros paises e inicialmente tenemos desconfianza pero el tipo parece honesto y ademas habla Frances pues proviene de Camerun. Al final nos convence de cambiarnos de zapatos y dejar las botas y los cascos bajo su cuidado y nos vamos a visitar la ciudad turistica / Pisa is on the way to Livorno and Aparicio wants to see the famous tower so we make a small detour and find our way to the city centre. We find a place to park but immediately are approached by a man, clearly of africa origin, who offers to "guard them". We are initially suspicious but the man appears honest and additionally speaks French since he is from Cameroon. In the end he convinces us to change our shoes and leave our boots and helmets under his care, then we leave to visit the tourist part of the city

Tomamos un helado justo enfrente de la torre y concluimos la visita/ We have an ice cream right in front of the tower and thus conclude the visit
Cuando volvemos al sitio donde estan las motos no vemos ni las botas ni los cascos y comenzamos a pensar que tal vez hemos cometido un error. Sin embargo, el tipo viene enseguida con nuestras cosas y nos explica que las habia sacado de la via publica para protegerlas mejor. Parece honesto y nos sorprende que en realidad habla 5 idiomas y se encuentra en el limbo tipico de los migrantes economicos, sin residencia legal y obligado a permanecer en una "economia paralela" para poder sobrevivir. Se llama Mustapha y le damos una buena propina y le deseamos suerte / When we get back to where we parked the bikes, we don't see the boots or helmets and we begin to wonder whether we have made a mistake. However, the man comes immediately with our equipment and explains that he had moved them away from public view to better protect them. He seems honest and we are surprised to learn that he actually speaks 5 languages and is in the typical limbo of the economic migrants, without legal residence and forced to remain in a "parallel economy" in order to survive. His name is Mustapha and we give him a good tip and wish him good luck
La SS1 es en realidad la antigua Via Aurelia construida ya por los romanos en 241 b.c.. El trafico es denso y peligroso pues la mayoria de los italianos se comportan como si estuvieran en un circuito de carreras / The SS1 is really the old Aurelian Way, built by the Romans in 241 b.c.. Traffic is dense and dangerous since most Italians drive as if they were in a racing circuit
Llegamos al Hotel Mediterraneo en Stagno, queda muy cerca del terminal de Ferry. En el hotel nos recomiendan un restaurante llamado "Le Volte" en Livorno, decidimos tomar un taxi para descansar del trafico. El restaurante es de "alto nivel" pero la calidad de la comida y el servicio es mas bien mediocre. Al salir no hay como llamar un taxi y al final un cliente de una pizzeria nos ayuda a llamar uno que nos lleva de regreso al hotel / We arrive at the Hotel Mediterraneo in Stagno, it is very close to the Ferry terminal and they recommend a restaurant called "Le Volte" in Livorno proper. We decide to take a taxi in order to rest a bit from the traffic. The restaurant is allegedly "high end" but the quality of both, the food and the service is rather mediocre. Upon exiting, we have difficulties to find a taxi until finally a customer of a pizzeria helps us call one which takes us back to the hotel

La salida de Bastia hacia Calvi es algo complicada pues deseamos evitar la autopistas. Paramos en una estacion de servicio y un motero amable nos explica que vamos en la direccion equivocada y nos da informaciones para tomar la buena via / The exit from Bastia is a bit complicated because we want to avoid highways. We stop at a fuel station and a nice biker tells us that we are heading in the wrong direction and gives us information on how to get to the desired route
Luego de pasar por zonas residenciales, la calle efectivamente se convierte en una ruta nacional que va hacia Saint Florent. Al cabo de unos 10 Km Aparicio me dice por radio que las calles en Corcega parecen diseñadas especialmente para motos. En efecto, las superficies estan bien asfaltadas y en buena condicion con gran cantidad de virajes cerrados / After going through several residential zones, the street effectively turns into a "national" road that goes towards Saint Florent. After some 10 Km Aparicio comments on the radio that the roads in Corsica appear as if purpose-designed for motorcycles. In fact, the surfaces are smooth and in good condition with a good number of tight turns

Salimos sin desayunar, pensando encontrar para comer en el camino pero hay pocas opciones y debemos conformarnos con cafe y bizcochos en un cafe cerca de Galeria. Afortunadamente, llevamos algunas provisiones en los cofres / We leave without having breakfast, thinking we will find something on the road but there are few options and in the end must make-do with coffee and pastries in a cafe near Galeria. Paramos para tomar algunas fotos en el Paso de Palmarella entre Galeria y Porto. La ruta es divertida pero hay que descansar con alguna frecuencia pues requiere una concentracion muy intensa sobre todo porque hay autobuses de turistas, ciclistas, y gente imprudente que se para a tomar fotografias en sitios mas bien peligrosos. Ademas, notamos que vamos utilizando toda la superficie de contacto de los neumaticos, solo queda sin usar una muy pequeña banda en los delanteros y encima de todo, las maquinas van cargadas y el peso debe aproximar los 300 Kg / We stop to take some pictures at the Palmarella pass between Galeria and Porto. The road is amusing but one must stop and rest with some frequency because intense concentration is required, especially because there are tour buses, cyclists, and imprudent people that stop to take pictures in dangerous places. Besides, we notice that we are using the entire contact surface of the tyres with only a very narrow band remaining without being used in the front tyres. On top of this, the bikes are loaded and their weight must be close to 300 Kg each

Al final encontramos un restaurante pero como no abren antes de las 19:30, tomamos un aperitivo en un bar cercano / We arrive in Ajaccio, birthplace of Napoleon Bonaparte and find our way to the hotel Spunta Di Mare. We then set out to find something to eat but it is Sunday and most places are closed. In the end, we find a restaurant but since they don't open until 19:30, we take an aperitif in a nearby bar

Ademas nos indica que ellos toman pedidos en linea y pueden despachar a toda Europa. / We have breakfast, check out from the hotel and go to the centre of Ajaccio to purchase some typical Corsican products at the Casa Napoleon store. The manager is very amiable, her name is Patricia and she informs us that they sell on-line and ship to anywhere in Europe.
Tomamos la ruta hacia Filitosa donde Aparicio ha descubierto que hay un sitio arqueologico que parece interesante / We take the road towards Filitosa, where Aparicio has found there is an archaeological stie that appears interesting
Llegamos a Filitosa que es un sitio megalitico donde la primera ocupacion data de aproximadamente 3.300 b.c.. Es una visita interesante, el sitio esta bien cuidado y limipio y ademas dispone de un pequeño museo donde se exhiben objetos de las varias culturas que sucesivamente habitaron el sitio / We arrive in Filitosa which is a megalithic site where the first occupation dates from 3.300 b.c.. The visit is interesting, the site is well-kept and clean and there's a small museum which exhibits objects from the various cultures that inhabited the place successively

En Propriano paramos para almorzar. No tenian cupo para una segunda noche en el hotel "Les 3 Terrasses" asi que nos mudamos al "Hotel Orsoni" donde los propietarios nos reciben amablemente y hasta nos permiten guardar las motos en su estacionamiento cerrado. / There was no room availability for a second night at the hotel "Les 3 Terrasses" so we move to the "Hotel Orsoni" where the owners welcome us warmly and let us even park the motorcycles in their closed parking.
Intentamos ir hacia el sur hacia Bonifacio, pero hay mucha congestion de trafico y al llegar a Porto Vecchio decidimos devolvernos y mas bien pasar un rato en la playa. / We try to head south towards Bonifacio, but the road traffic is heavy and upon arriving in Porto Vecchio, we turn around and decide to instead spend some time at the beach.

Para la cena vamos a un restaurante simpatico llamado "O Resto",cerca del hotel. La dueña le pide a Aparicio que ponga sus iniciales y la fecha en el corcho de la botella de vino y luego coloca este junto con los de otros clientes en un mostrador especial / For dinner, we go to a welcoming restaurant called "O Resto", near the hotel. The owner asks Aparicio to initial and date the cork from the wine bottle we drank. She then places it with those from other cleints on a special shelf.
El Hotel Orsoni es bueno y los dueños son muy atentos pero hay que solicitar habitaciones que den hacia la parte de atras pues los jovenes del hotel "Les 3 Terrasses" hacen mucho ruido hasta aproximadamente la 04:30 / The Hotel Orsoni is nice and the owners are very attentionate but it is best to ask for rooms towards the back of the hotel because those across the street from the "Les 3 Terrasses" are quite noisy since the crowd from the latter hotel stays up and makes a lot of noise until about 04:30

Nos vamos hasta Bastia por la ruta costera, nos alojamos en el "Hotel Bonaparte". Los dueños son muy amables y nos indican sitios para comer. Tienen disponible un estacionamiento cerrado para las motos / We take the coastal route to Bastia. Upon arrival, we lodge at the "Hotel Bonaparte". The owners are quite amiable and provide good information about where to eat well. They also have closed parking for the motorcycles.
Aprovechamos tambien para investigar los origenes de nuestro antepasado corso Pierre Paoli. El nombre Paoli es bien conocido en Corcega. Al final encontramos la partida de nacimiento en los archivos digitizados. / We also take advantage of our stay in Bastia to research the origins of our Corsican ancestor Pierre Paoli. The name Paoli is well-known in Corsica. In the end, we find his birth certificate in the digital archives.

En lugar del costoso desayuno en el hotel, nos vamos hasta una panaderia cercana, despues seguimos hacia Luxemburgo, parando solo un Dijon para tomar carburante para la GS que tiene menor radio de accion que el GSA. Poco antes de llegar a la estacion de servicio el tablero me indica que tengo la luz del faro delantero quemada. Llevo un bombillo de repuesto y Aparicio me ayuda a cambiarlo. / Instead of the more expensive breakfast at the hotel, we go to a nearby bakery and then continue towards Luxembourg, stopping only in Dijon to refuel the GS which has a shorter range than the GSA. Shortly before arriving at the fuel station, the display signals a failure of the front headlamp. Since I have a spare lightbulb, Aparicio helps me replace it.
Llegamos sin problema a Luxemburgo, completando asi un exitoso viaje. / We arrive safely in Luxembourg, thus completing a successful trip.

Casi la mitad del costo se va en llegar hasta Livorno y volver desde Nice. Hubieramos podido ahorrar algo en la comida pero decidimos comer bien en este viaje. En varios hoteles tomamos tambien cuartos separados y esto aumento el costo. / Almost half the cost was incurred in getting to Livorno and returning from Nice. We could have saved some money on the food but decided to eat well for this trip. In several hotels, we took separate rooms and this increased the costs.
